Why Unmarked Ground?

Writing In Search of Giants was a profound life changing experience that led me to Ireland through my DNA and my genetic roots. Fate pulled me forward into that story. One of the many things that I learned while writing the book is that Ireland is an ancient place filled with history, legends, and culture, and that the land itself holds stories if I am willing to wander its landscape.

Unmarked Ground is a way for me to travel to new places, both physically and philosophically. Now, curiosity pulls me into new spaces as I explore language, myth, and belonging. The terrain, the very ground under my feet, is not empty: it is simply unmarked.  Substack is where I will mark that ground through essays and stories as I continue to learn and to write.  

Why Substack?

While on book tour for In Search of Giants, I started to write about my adventures while traveling. As a way to collect those essays and my reflections about rediscovering my Irish roots in one place with easy access for my readers, I started a Substack called Unmarked Ground. Substack is an online platform for writers to publish blogs and newsletters and send them directly to a reader’s email.
