Let’s Get Together!

One of my greatest joys after writing  In Search of Giants has been connecting directly with readers through talks and workshops at cultural organizations and festivals. Participants always have interesting insights, and I often feel that I have learned as much as my participants at one of my events.

I would love to bring one to an organization near you. While I often talk about science, history, or mythology, my events are story based and accessible with an emphasis on lived experience. I enjoy doing talks and workshops that are dynamic and interactive.

Upcoming Events

  • April 13, 2026, 2 pm, “How Genetic Genealogy is Shaping Our World,” Samuels Public Library, Front Royal, Virginia
  • November 13-15, 2026, Maryland Irish Festival, Baltimore, Maryland

Talk & Workshop Topics

Here’s a few of my offerings. Any talk or workshop can be tailored to the audience. As I move forward with new projects, I will be adding new topics to my list, and I am always open to new ideas!

  • In Search of Giants
A talk on genetic heritage, Irish history, and storytelling, based on my book In Search of Giants.
  • How Genetic Genealogy is Shaping Our World
An introduction to genetic genealogy that emphasizes questions, ethics, and context rather than consumer DNA results.
  • Irish Language, Myth, and Belonging
A cultural talk exploring Irish mythology, language, and what these traditions still offer us.
  • Making Small Books
A workshop on creating booklets and zines, focused on small-scale publishing, design choices, and learning by doing.
  • Writing 101
A reflective workshop for adults interested in beginning or returning to writing and creative work.
